Area with huge houses from the XIX century, time it was considered one of the best vacationing places for people from Recife, due to being close do Rio Capibaribe. Many civic and religious festivities took place there as well with Baroque, Nossa Senhora da Saúde Church, with a single tower. Next to the church a monument draws attention: monumento to José Mariano, a great abolitionist from pernambuco, married to Mrs. Olegarinha, who helped slaves to go free. It is located in front of the house n. 626, which belonged to Mrs. Olegarinha, mother for the poor ones. The statue, in natural size, represents a former slave getting free and with flowers to the brave fighter. The neighborhood also houses workshops.
