Inaugurated in 1842, it is the oldest Theater in Recife. It has gotten marble facade from Lisbon and integrates the Center for Formation and Research in Performing Arts Apolo-Hermilo. In the middle of the XIX century, several Theater societies were formed and one of them built up Apolo Theater between 1835 and 1840, but its opening dates from December 19, 1842. Its style is Neoclassic. After Santa Isabel’s Theater opening, it started declining and was closed in 1863. The building was mutilated and, later, restored and reopened in 1982, on may 12.
