The Abolition Museum’s institutional mission is to preserve, research, value, disseminate and expose Afro-Brazilian memory and culture and one of its main objectives is to promote a critical reflection on the participation of Africans and their descendants in history and formation of national identity.
Thus, the repertoire of events and activities carried out by the Museum of Abolition seeks to offer culture, leisure and education to its different audiences by valuing the material and immaterial cultural heritage of the Afro-Brazilian population.
There are exhibitions, seminars, cultural events, training activities, socio-educational activities at Ludoteca, among other possibilities in which the visitor can enjoy the MAB.
Visitation is free and the Museum is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturdays from 1 pm to 5 pm.
