Dois Irmãos State Park has an area of 384.42 hectares, of which 14 hectares are occupied by the Recife Zoo. The reserve of the Park is considered one of the largest areas of Atlantic Forest in Pernambuco. In the Zoo it can be found more than 600 animals among birds, reptiles and mammals distributed in 120 species, both native of Brazil and exotic. It has the Museum of Natural Sciences and CEA – Vasconcelos Sobrinho Center for Environmental Education. The Farias Neves Square, located in front of the Zoo, was designed by the landscaper Burle Marx, and features a sculpture by Abelardo da Hora.
