Portuguese Office of Literature

The Pernambuco Gabinete Português de Leitura was created from the need that a group of Portuguese felt to have a meeting point and meetings. The space was dedicated, above all, to unite the Portuguese of the state, encouraging their moral unity, the worship of the fatherland, the love for Brazil and, especially, for Pernambuco, who so well receives their brothers.

Since 1921, housed in its own headquarters, in the heart of the Recife, the 3-storey building, which began to be built at the beginning of 1909, offers the People from Pernambuco and the Portuguese community an intense Exchange experience of knowledge and culture besides ties friendship between Portugal and Brazil.
