Ilha de Deus

Located in the middle of one of the largest urban mangroves in Brazil, Ilha de Deus began to be occupied in the first decades of the twentieth century, where from the beginning of its formation, fishing prawns, crabs or shellfish is the predominant economic activity. Recently, through the work of the Saber Viver Center, the community has opened up to Community Based Tourism, an alternative to divulge the natural potential there and offer visitors and tourists authentic experiences and an immersion in the simple and charming daily life of Ilha de Deus. Catamaran tours by the river, gastronomy and handicraft workshops, social exchanges and educational circuits are just some of the tourist products that can be purchased and put people from different parts of the country and the world in contact with what the island has of most fascinating : the daily life of its people.
